How to order

All maps, atlases, and travel guides are available for purchase online. Find the product you want by using Search, Advanced Search, or Browse.

Although ordering online is easy and fast, you may also use your shopping basket to create mail, fax, and telephone orders. Once you have finished shopping and all desired products are in the shopping cart, click the "checkout" box at the bottom of the shopping cart page and proceed though the checkout process until you complete the Order Summary page that shows your order with the shipping cost and any applicable sales tax. Instead of clicking on Submit Order, use your browser to print out a copy of the completed form and follow the instructions below:

If you select Standard Ground delivery, you can expect to receive your shipment 4 to 8 business days after you place your order. With expedited service, you can expect your order within 2 to 3 business days, depending on the day and time you place your order.

Please note that your order must be received by 12 noon Eastern Time to ensure expedited delivery.

Please note that for online orders we only offer shipping to the USA and Canada. For shipping to all other countries, you must place your order with Customer Service at 800-432-6277 or 864-486-0214 or email us. We gladly ship anywhere in the world allowed by the U.S. government and have several overseas shipping options. Our prices do not include duties, tariffs and VATs which may apply to international orders. All pricing and delivery charges are in U.S. dollars. Expedited shipping to Canada is not available online. (Please contact customer service.) Due to rights restrictions, we are not able to ship Michelin products to Canada.

You can assume that any product listed in our catalog is available. If a product becomes out-of-print, we will remove it from the e-commerce catalog. Should a product be temporarily out-of-stock, we will advise you of its expected due date.

We regret that we are unable to put out-of-stock products ordered online on backorder. Please place backorders with your favorite online bookstore or reorder with us when products become available.

Within 30 days of receipt of your order, you may return any map, language, or travel-related product in its original condition for a full refund. Electronic items are sold on a non-returnable basis. Please note that we can process returns and refunds only for items purchased from an American Map-Langenscheidt company site. Please call or email (customerservice@americanmap.com) our Customer Service Department at 800-432-6277 or 864-486-0214 for information on how to make a return.

If you've paid by check and we owe you a full or partial refund, we will issue you the appropriate company credit. If you prefer, we will send you a refund check for the correct amount.

As you travel through the product portions of the site and select items for purchase, your web browser remembers the items you selected. At any time and from any site page, you can view your shopping basket by selecting the shopping basket link at the top right of the page. Items remain in your shopping basket even if you leave the site.

Adding items to your basket does not mean you have purchased them. To purchase items, first visit the Shopping Basket page and delete any items from your basket that you do not wish to order. After deleting items, you will be able to visit the Order Form, where you will enter further information about yourself and your order. You will also have the opportunity to add additional quantities of any item in your basket or deleting any items. Shipping and applicable taxes will be automatically calculated (please see our Shipping and Returns section for more details).

Finally, you will be asked to confirm your purchases. Only when you have submitted your order will it be placed. At this time, your shopping basket will be automatically emptied.

Should you wish to mail, fax, or phone your order, you may print out your completed form.

For customers who want expedited shipping, please note that orders must be received by 12 noon Eastern Time.

When you order through our secure server, the information you send is encrypted by your web client (Internet Explorer) before being sent to American Map-Langenscheidt. Encryption turns information into a form that can only be decoded by the web server at the other end of the connection.

American Map-Langenscheidt uses an industry standard Secure Server for encrypted web transactions to ensure that your credit card information is transferred in the most stable, safest way possible.

Credit card numbers are not stored on any computer after your order is processed.

Orders placed by customers and organizations based in the U.S. and Canada are subject to sales tax. American Map charges sales tax according to the ship-to location.

Note: You cannot place a tax-exempt order on the American Map site. Please contact American Map Customer service to place a tax-exempt direct order.

American Map cannot refund taxes that have already been collected unless you return the entire purchase for a refund.
